Two hundred and fifty amps is the smaller busbar against the 600A versions, suiting a modest distribution point. Matching the rating to the current the bar will actually carry avoids paying for capacity that will never be used, and the inverter usually sets that figure.

The removable cover shields energized hardware from accidental contact. That matters more than it sounds in a battery locker, where a dropped spanner across two posts is a short circuit with no fuse between it and the bank.
