Spyderco Endura 4 Black FRN Combo Edge Knife

The Spyderco Endura 4 Black FRN Combo Edge (C10PSBBK) is the black-blade version of the Endura combo, with a coated 3.8-inch VG-10 blade. The dark coating cuts glare and gives the knife a subdued, all-black look from tip to butt. Its edge is plain toward the tip and serrated toward the handle. Overall length is about 8.75 inches with the blade open.

Serrations near the pivot are where you have the most leverage, which makes them effective on rope, straps, and heavy cord. The plain front section handles food, packaging, and general utility cuts. The full flat grind keeps the blade thin behind the edge for good slicing. VG-10 holds a fine edge and stands up well to humid weather and salt air. The large Round Hole is easy to find by feel, even with gloves on.

The FRN handle has Spyderco's bi-directional texture and skeletonized steel liners for strength. A back lock and Round Hole keep operation simple, and the four-position clip can be moved to suit your carry. Like every Endura 4, it comes out of Seki, Japan, and weighs about 3 ounces. Blade coatings can wear at the edge and spine with heavy use, which is cosmetic and does not affect cutting. The FRN handle will not swell, crack, or absorb water, so the knife is a good fit for boat, truck, and work use. Satin-blade Enduras and other lockbacks are in our lockback knives.
