Samlex 300W 12V Pure Sine Wave Power Inverter

The Samlex PST 300W 12V is a pure sine wave inverter with detachable DC leads, a 12V plug adapter and battery clamps.

Supplying both a 12V plug adapter and battery clamps on detachable leads makes this usable two ways. The plug adapter suits lighter loads through a vehicle-style socket, while the clamps connect directly to the battery when the load is beyond what a cigarette socket circuit can carry.

That second option matters because a socket circuit is typically fused at 10 or 15 amps, and 300 watts at 12 volts is around 25 amps. Running the inverter near its rating through the plug adapter will blow the socket fuse rather than damaging anything, but it means the connection method has to match the load.
