Description

The Samlex SAM Series 2000W is a modified sine wave 12V inverter with a 4000W surge rating and three AC outlets.

A 4000W surge against 2000W continuous is a two-to-one ratio, and that is the figure that decides whether a motor will actually start. Motors and compressors draw several times their running current for the first moment. An inverter rated only slightly above the running figure will shut down on the surge every time.

The load-controlled cooling fan runs only when needed rather than continuously. On a boat that matters for noise as much as power. A fan running at full speed while the inverter powers a laptop is an irritation nobody needs at anchor.

Modified sine wave suits tools, heaters and resistive loads but not sensitive electronics, which need a pure sine inverter. A universal protection circuit covers low battery voltage, thermal overload, output overload, short circuits and earth faults, with a low-battery alarm before shutdown and an optional SAM-RC remote. Explore more power inverters.

  • 4000W surge against 2000W continuous
  • Motors draw several times their running current at start
  • Load-controlled fan runs only when needed
  • Modified sine: tools and heaters, not electronics
