Description

The Roper Lahar Stockman has satin-finished carbon steel clip, sheepsfoot and spey blades in a hardwood and acrylic handle with stainless bolsters, closing to 3.88 inches.

Combining hardwood with acrylic in one handle is unusual. The acrylic is poured around or alongside the wood so the natural grain shows through a colored resin, giving each knife a pattern that cannot be repeated exactly. Three blades split the work: the clip takes general cutting, the sheepsfoot makes controlled push cuts against a surface, and the spey blade's flat edge and rounded tip handle skinning and scraping without a point to puncture what lies beneath.

Carbon steel takes a keener edge than stainless and resharpens faster, developing a patina that most owners of a carbon traditional treat as part of the knife. Each blade opens on a nail nick, held by a slip joint. Explore more Stockman Knives.
