Description

The Ontario RAT I has a 3.5-inch satin AUS-8 stainless blade, a black nylon handle, a thumb stud, a lanyard hole and a pocket clip, closing to 5 inches.

This is the plain edge RAT I in satin rather than the black partially serrated version, and the satin finish is the practical difference. It hides scratches in the brushed surface where a coating wears through at the edge over time. AUS-8 takes a keen edge easily and resists rust well, sharpening back on any stone rather than needing diamond abrasives.

Nylon keeps the weight down on a 5-inch frame and grips without the aggressive checkering that wears a pocket. Ontario has supplied knives to the US military since the 1940s, and the RAT line is the civilian side of that plain, functional approach. Explore more Tactical Linerlocks.
