Description

The Newmar NP-12 Nav-Pac is a 12V power conditioner with a 5Ah sealed battery, supporting up to 20A output.

Twenty amps at 12V is the higher current rating of the two Nav-Pacs, since the same power at lower voltage means more current. That covers a substantial set of navigation and communication equipment on a 12V boat.

The internal battery supports connected equipment through a temporary source interruption or a heavy transient load. Programmable transceivers are the classic case: losing power means losing programmed channels, and reprogramming a set at sea is not a small job.

It conditions the supply as well as backing it up, protecting equipment from unstable DC power. Marine DC is noisier than most equipment expects, particularly with an alternator charging and motors starting, and sensitive electronics show that as intermittent faults. Explore more DC-DC converters and power supplies.

  • 20A at 12V, the higher current of the two Nav-Pacs
  • Transceivers lose programmed channels on power loss
  • Reprogramming a set at sea is not small
  • Marine DC is noisier than equipment expects
