Maxwell AA560 Windlass Rode Counter Control

The Maxwell AA560 is a panel-mount windlass controller and rode counter with a graphic LCD screen.

A rode counter is the reason to fit this over a plain up-down switch. It measures how much chain has gone out, so scope is set to a known number rather than guessed from marks on the chain or counted by eye. The display reads in feet, meters or fathoms, and the backlight adjusts for night anchoring.

A preset stopping point halts retrieval before the anchor reaches the bow roller, which is what stops a shank being pulled into the stemhead.
