Description

The Marttiini Arctic Circle has a 3.5-inch carbon steel drop point blade at 7.75 inches overall, a birch handle and a leather sheath. Made in Finland.

Birch is the traditional Nordic handle timber, light and close-grained, and it has been used on Finnish puukko knives for as long as they have been made. Carbon steel takes a keener edge than stainless and comes back quickly on a stone, and it stayed standard in Finland long after stainless took over elsewhere.

The trade is that carbon darkens with use and will spot if left wet, so it needs to be dried after use. Marttiini has worked in Rovaniemi, inside the Arctic Circle the knife is named for, since 1928. Explore more Survival and Bushcraft.
