The Marttiini Lynx 129 has a 4.25-inch mirror polished stainless drop point blade with a J. Marttiini Finland signature etch at 9 inches overall, a varnished birch handle with a nickel silver ferrule and a tan leather belt sheath with embossed Lappish decoration.

The ferrule is a metal collar where the blade meets the handle, and on a hidden tang knife it takes the load that would otherwise split the wood. Finnish makers have used them for generations. The Lappish embossing on the sheath refers to Sámi decorative traditions of northern Finland, and it is stamped into the leather rather than printed on it.

Birch is the traditional Nordic handle timber, light and close-grained, and varnishing seals it against the moisture a hunting knife meets.
