The Marttiini Black Lumberjack has a 3.5-inch carbon steel blade at 7.875 inches overall in a textured black stained birch handle, a nickel silver ferrule and a silver embossed black leather belt sheath. Made in Finland.
The ferrule is a metal collar where the blade meets the handle, and on a hidden tang knife it takes the load that would otherwise split the wood, a detail Finnish makers have used for generations. Birch is the traditional Nordic handle timber, light and close-grained, and staining it black is a modern departure from the natural finish.
