Marinco 117A 50A to 30A Shore Power Pigtail Adapter

The Marinco 117A Pigtail Adapter connects a 50A 125/250V boat inlet to a 30A 125V dockside receptacle.

Adapting downward is the direction that needs care. The boat's inlet is rated for 50 amps at 125/250V, but connected here it receives 30 amps at 125V and nothing more. That halves the voltage available to any 250V circuits aboard as well as cutting the current, so equipment on those circuits will not run at all rather than simply running slower.

Loads have to be managed deliberately. A boat used to 50 amp service will trip a 30 amp pedestal quickly if air conditioning, water heating and charging run together. It suits a visitor berth, an overnight stop or a yard where full service is not available rather than as a permanent arrangement.
