Jabsco 2-9/16 to 4-5/8 in Impeller Removal Tool

The Jabsco Impeller Removal Tool (part 50070-0200) is the large size, covering impellers from about 2-9/16 to 4-5/8 inches in diameter, or 65 to 118 millimeters. That range takes in the big impellers found in many inboard diesel raw-water pumps and larger generator and transfer pumps. It is made of stainless steel, so it can live in a damp engine room toolbox without rusting.

Large impellers are the hardest to pull by hand because the blades take a set and the hub can grip the shaft after a season of use. The tool's jaws grab the impeller body and a center screw presses against the shaft, drawing the impeller straight out instead of tilting it. Pulling straight protects the pump's wear plate and cam from scratches that would later cause leaks or lost suction.

It works on impellers from any maker within its size range, not just Jabsco. Measure the old impeller's diameter first, and make sure there is enough clear space in front of the pump to fit the tool once the cover is off. Tighten the screw slowly and evenly, and count the blades on the old impeller once it is out to be sure none are missing.
