Description
The Icom IC-M510BB is a black box VHF built for boats that want AIS receive capability without giving up helm space to a full fixed-mount radio. Like the smaller M410BB, it pairs a CommandMic remote control, white on this model, with an RF unit that installs out of sight, up to 60 feet away when run through two OPC-1541 extension cables.
Up to three CommandMic stations can run off the same RF unit, letting a boat put full radio and DSC control at the cockpit, the flybridge, and the tower, all tied into the same intercom for one-to-all or one-to-one calls between them.
An integrated AIS receiver shows real-time vessel traffic through the CommandMic or feeds it onto the NMEA 2000 bus for a chartplotter to display, and a dedicated DSC Remote Control terminal, compatible with EN 300 338-8, lets an external device centralize emergency communication control. The same 15W hailer amplifier, Active Noise Cancelling, and IPX7 waterproof rating carry over from the M410BB, with NMEA 2000/NMEA 0183-HS connectivity sharing GPS, AIS, DSC, and channel data across the network.
