Description

The Douk-Douk Silver has a 3.125-inch carbon steel blade with Douk-Douk scroll etching, in silver-finished folded steel handles with a bail, closing to 4.375 inches.

The handle is a single piece of sheet steel folded around the blade, with no scales, liners or bolsters, which is what makes a Douk-Douk flat enough to carry like a coin. The scroll etching on the blade and the artwork pressed into the front handle are the traditional decoration, unchanged since the design appeared in Thiers in 1929.

Carbon steel takes a very keen edge and sharpens easily, though it will darken and eventually spot if stored wet. The knife became widely carried across former French colonial territories, which is how a simple Thiers folder ended up with a following well beyond France. Explore more Folding Knives.
