C. Sherman Johnson Large Captain Hook Snubber Hook

The C. Sherman Johnson Large Captain Hook Snubber Hook is a hook-only anchor-chain fitting for building a custom heavy-duty snubber. It gives the owner the same chain-engagement point used in Johnson’s complete snubber assemblies while leaving rope length and construction up to the installation. The hook can transfer anchoring load from the chain to a nylon snubber led to a deck cleat or Samson post. It can also be used to secure chain at the bow roller or temporarily unload the windlass when the system is being set.

The hook is made from 1/2 in stock and is intended for the larger chain range used by the matching Captain Hook model. No rope is included, so the completed snubber line, eye splice, and deck-side attachment must be selected for the vessel’s anchoring system. The manufacturer’s complete-line version uses a professionally made eye splice, which is a useful benchmark for custom assembly quality. The anchor chain should always remain securely attached at its bitter end while the hook is in service.
