Blue Sea 7149 200A Surface Mount Circuit Breaker

The Blue Sea Systems 7149 is the surface mount 200 amp version of the 187-Series breaker, meeting SAE J1171 external ignition protection.

One caution comes with this breaker and it is worth heeding: do not use it as a switch where high inrush currents are expected. Inrush from a large inverter or motor start, repeated through the breaker, wears the contacts far faster than the same current passing through an already closed breaker. Use a proper switch for that duty and let this handle protection.

Surface mounting puts it on top of a panel or bulkhead rather than through a cutout, which suits a bulkhead too thick or too structural to cut into. The panel mount 7049 covers the other case with the same rating and mechanism.

It is waterproof and ignition protected for gasoline powered boats, with recessed mounting holes for a tidy appearance. The 5/16 M8 terminals take heavy gauge lugs with room to work, the large lever shows trip status by its orientation, and the trip free design prevents it being held on during a fault.
