Blue Sea 3104 C-Series ELCI Main Circuit Breaker - 50A

The Blue Sea Systems 3104 C-Series ELCI main is a 50A three-pole breaker with a 30 mA leakage trip and 5,000A interrupt capacity.

Three poles is what 120/240V service requires, switching both hot lines and the neutral rather than leaving a conductor live behind an open breaker. A two-pole breaker on a split-phase feed leaves the neutral connected, which is exactly the condition someone working downstream would not expect.

The 30 mA leakage trip is the threshold ABYC E-11 works to, catching current that has found a path to ground rather than only responding to overload. Five thousand amps of interrupt capacity means the breaker opens a fault that severe instead of welding itself closed.

The magnetic hydraulic trip-free design cannot be held on while fault current flows, so nobody can force the circuit closed on a fault. It meets UL 1500 external ignition protection, which is required on gasoline powered boats, and front-panel mounts with a flat rocker actuator. Rated -35°C to 66°C.
