The four-position sequence gives accessory power without the ignition on, which is what lets electronics run at anchor without the engine circuits live. That separation is worth having. A three-position switch forces the choice between everything on and everything off.

Sealing is done with O-rings and ultrasonic welding rather than a gasket, giving an IP67 rating that survives an exposed helm. The integral Deutsch connector is keyed and sealed, so the harness cannot be connected wrongly and water does not track in at the plug.

A high-impact plastic body resists corrosion where a metal-bodied switch would eventually seize, and the design is tested to SAE J259 for ignition use.
