Barton Marine Silver/White 20-25 ft Boat Boomstrut

The Barton Marine Silver/White Boomstrut for 20 to 25 ft boats is Barton part 44020, sized for a boom that weighs up to 21 lb (9.5 kg) at its tip before the strut goes on. Two white coated fiberglass rods bend as you pull down on the kicker, then straighten to push the boom back up when you ease it. That keeps the boom off the cockpit and the bimini when the main comes down, and it holds leech tension in light air without a separate topping lift.

This size measures 1070 mm (42.1 in) pin to pin and weighs about 3.1 lb, so it adds very little weight or windage below the boom. The rods flex through up to 300 mm (11.8 in) of travel, with 150 mm (5.9 in) of stroke available at full adjustment. If the strut needs to sit inside an existing vang, the rods can be cut down by as much as 150 mm.

The mast bracket slides into the luff groove on most masts, so the strut usually goes on without drilling the spar. The contoured boom bracket fits round and flat boom sections, and the fittings work on aluminum, carbon fiber or wooden spars.
