This kit covers the original 4JH and 4JHE engines, which are distinct from the 4JH2 and 4JH4 series that have their own kits. Yanmar's 4JH designation spans decades of production, and the drive geometry changed between generations. Reading the full plate designation is what separates them.

Higher-output alternators require more mechanical power from the engine, and a ten-rib belt reduces slippage while supporting sustained charging. That distinction between peak and sustained matters: a V-belt may cope briefly and then slip once it warms and the load stays on.
