The Viega MegaPress 316 FPT Adapter connects 3/4 inch press pipe to a 3/4 inch female pipe thread.

An adapter is what joins a press system to everything that is not one. Valves, pumps, gauges and through-hulls all arrive with threads, and this is the transition between the two worlds. Without adapters a press system would only connect to itself, and they outnumber most other fittings on a real installation for that reason.

A female thread on the fitting means a male-threaded component screws directly into it, which suits valves and instruments that come with male tails.
