Viega MegaPress 316 1-Inch FKM 45-Degree Street Elbow

The Viega MegaPress 316 1-Inch FKM 45-Degree Street Elbow turns a 1 in stainless line 45 degrees. One end presses onto pipe, and the street end has the same outside diameter as pipe, so it slides straight into another fitting. That lets you make the turn without a short piece of pipe and an extra joint between two fittings.

MegaPress joins stainless pipe with a press tool and MegaPress jaws instead of threading, welding or brazing. There is no open flame or hot work involved, which matters in a boat's engine room or bilge. Cut the pipe square, deburr it, mark the insertion depth and press, and the joint is done in seconds. A 45 degree turn is gentler on flow than a 90, so use it wherever the route allows.

Inside each press end, the grip ring bites into the pipe to hold it, the separator ring protects the seal, and the FKM sealing element makes the leak-tight joint. FKM handles higher temperatures and resists oils and fuels better than standard EPDM seals. The fitting works with Schedule 5 through Schedule 40 stainless steel pipe. The body is 316 stainless steel, which has molybdenum for better pitting and corrosion resistance in salt air and salt water than 304.
