The Victron SmartShunt 2000A/50mV IP65 is a high-current battery monitor using a phone, tablet or GX device as its display.
IP65 is what separates this from the standard SmartShunt, and it decides where the unit can be mounted. A shunt goes in the negative cable close to the battery, and that position is often damp. The sealed version survives there where the standard one would need a protective enclosure of its own.
Having no dedicated gauge removes a panel cutout and a display cable from the installation. The trade is that reading the bank means picking up a phone, which suits some boats and not others.
Two thousand amps covers very large DC systems: high-capacity inverter banks, propulsion support and commercial installations. Bluetooth connects it to VictronConnect for state of charge, time remaining, current flow and historical data. Explore more battery monitoring.
