Description
The Victron Battery Alarm GX warns on high or low battery voltage with audible and visual indication, plus a potential-free relay contact.
The relay contact with both normally open and normally closed positions is what makes this more than a buzzer. It can switch something else when the alarm triggers: shed a load, start a generator, or signal another system. An alarm that only makes noise depends on somebody being there to hear it.
Thresholds and hysteresis are programmable through DIP switches rather than fixed at one warning point. Hysteresis matters as much as the threshold. Without it an alarm chatters on and off as voltage hovers at the trigger point, and people learn to ignore it.
This is a dedicated alarm rather than a battery monitor, which suits an installation where full monitoring is unnecessary. Voltage moving outside limits is the one condition most owners actually need warning of, and a simpler device is more likely to be watched than a screen full of data. Explore more battery charging accessories.
- Relay contact switches other equipment on alarm
- An alarm nobody hears achieves nothing
- DIP-switch thresholds and hysteresis
- Without hysteresis an alarm chatters and gets ignored
