Description
The Victron SmartShunt 1000A/50mV IP65 is a high-current battery monitor using a phone, tablet or GX device as its display.
A thousand amps is the middle option, above the 500A shunts and below the 2000A versions. It suits large house banks, high-output alternators and inverter systems where a 500A shunt would be undersized, without giving up the resolution a 2000A unit loses at low currents.
IP65 sealing allows a mounting position that would not suit the standard version. A shunt goes in the negative cable near the batteries, and that location is often damp enough to matter over years.
Bluetooth connects it directly to VictronConnect, and it can also join a GX system for wider integration. Removing the panel gauge takes a cutout and a display cable out of the installation, at the cost of needing a phone to check the bank. Explore more battery monitoring.
- 1000A sits between the 500A and 2000A shunts
- A 2000A unit loses resolution at low currents
- IP65 suits a damp mounting near the batteries
- No gauge means no cutout or display cable
