Description
The Victron MultiPlus-II 48/3000 35-50 is a UL-approved inverter charger for 48V systems, with a 35A charger and 50A transfer switch.
Forty-eight volts is the input, which is what separates this from the 12V and 24V models at the same 3000VA output. Higher system voltage means far lower DC current for the same AC power. At 3000W a 48V bank draws about a quarter of what a 12V bank does, so the cable, fusing and connections are all smaller and cheaper.
The 35A charger looks modest next to the 120A on the 12V version, but it returns the same energy to a 48V bank. Comparing charger amperage across system voltages is misleading, and the figure that matters is watts rather than amps.
PowerAssist prevents a limited AC source being overloaded, reducing charging demand first and then supplementing from the batteries. It supports Victron ESS installations and external current sensing for PowerControl and self-consumption optimization, with GX device monitoring. Inverter takeover is under 20 milliseconds. - 48V input, a quarter of the DC current of a 12V unit
- Smaller cable, fusing and connections as a result
- 35A here returns the same energy as 120A at 12V
- Compare watts across voltages, not amps
