Victron MultiPlus 12V 500W 20-16 Inverter Charger

The Victron MultiPlus 12/500 20-16 is a compact UL-approved inverter charger with a 20A charger and 16A transfer, for smaller 12V systems.

Five hundred VA is the smallest MultiPlus, for a boat that wants automatic transfer and charging without a large inverter. That covers a laptop, lighting and small electronics rather than any appliance with a motor or a heating element. Sizing above what the loads need only costs money and standby draw.

It still includes a secondary charging output for a starter battery alongside the main adaptive charger. On a small boat that saves fitting a separate maintainer or a combining relay, which would otherwise cost more than the difference between inverter models.

PowerControl limits the current drawn from the external AC source so other loads are served before charging, and PowerAssist supplements limited shore or generator capacity during short peaks.
