Five years of connectivity in the purchase price is worth noting, since cellular monitoring usually means an ongoing subscription. That removes the recurring cost and the risk of monitoring quietly lapsing because a payment failed while the boat was unattended.

It needs no local internet connection, which is the point on a boat kept away from wifi. A GX device on a marina network can report to VRM, but a boat on a mooring or a remote berth has nothing to connect to.
