Description

The Victron Galvanic Isolator VDI-32A (32A Max, Waterproof/Potted) prevents electrolytic corrosion by blocking low voltage DC currents that enter the boat via the shore power earth wire. It is designed for boaters who want to protect underwater metals like the hull, propeller, and shaft from corrosion.

Internally, this isolator uses two diodes connected in anti-parallel fashion, allowing current in both directions but only above a threshold voltage of about 1.4VDC. Installed directly behind the boat's 120V-230V connection, the forward voltage prevents electrolytic current from flowing, while a higher error voltage in the AC circuit still allows the residual-current device to break the circuit as needed.

Marine electrical equipment performs best when connections stay clean, tight, dry where required, and properly supported. Inspect the finished installation and confirm normal operation before relying on the system at the dock or underway. For more compatible options, shop our battery charging accessories.

Key Features

  • Improve day-to-day operation: Waterproof potted housing holds up to constant marine exposure. This provides a practical operating, installation, or service benefit in its intended marine power application.
  • Make installation more practical: 6mm terminal posts handle higher-current shore power connections. This provides a practical operating, installation, or service benefit in its intended marine power application.
  • Support dependable marine use: Anti-parallel diode design blocks stray current while still passing the ground connection through for safety. This provides a practical operating, installation, or service benefit in its intended marine power application.
