Victron Filax 2 Ultra-Fast Transfer Switch

The Victron Filax 2 is an ultra-fast AC transfer switch moving sensitive loads between two AC sources with minimal interruption.

Transfer speed is the whole specification, because sensitive equipment does not tolerate the gap an ordinary switch leaves. A computer, a communications set or a plotter will reboot on a changeover that a heater or a battery charger would never notice, and rebooting at the wrong moment is the problem this exists to prevent.

The usual arrangement is shore, utility or generator power as the primary source, with an inverter as the alternate. When the preferred source fails, the Filax 2 moves the connected loads across fast enough that the equipment keeps running.
