The Uniden UM725GBT Fixed Mount VHF Radio with GPS & Bluetooth, White, is the first marine radio to bring Bluetooth wireless texting to a fixed mount, letting a boater text a similarly equipped VHF radio right from their own smartphone rather than being stuck at the helm unit.
That matters most exactly where a normal phone would fail entirely, once a boat runs past the range of the nearest cell tower, texting over VHF keeps working. Built-in GPS and Bluetooth join the rest of the UM725 series feature set, IPX8 submersible rating, NOAA weather channels, DSC distress, and both NMEA 0183 and NMEA 2000 output.
