The TALOS Standard Lightning Detector for Pools and Spas, with mounting base included, watches for approaching storms while a family enjoys the water, a important safeguard since lightning commonly strikes water and a nearby hit can seriously injure or kill a swimmer.

Detecting a strike from as far as 25 miles out, the unit flashes all eight LEDs for a full five minutes when lightning is first picked up, then dims to save battery once that initial alert period passes. If the detector cycles through all its colors on its own without an actual storm nearby, that signals electrical interference is confusing the sensor, and it should be relocated further from the interfering device.

Keep the detector clear of phones, wearables, and other electronic devices when mounting to prevent false readings.
