TALOS Lightning Detector, 18x24-Inch Safety Sign

The TALOS Lightning Detector with Safety Sign is an 18 x 24 inch PVC sign with a built-in lightning detector. TALOS made it for community and home swimming pools, where swimmers can see the alert at a glance. It detects lightning up to 25 miles away.

Colored LEDs show distance: green at 25 miles, blue at 16 miles and red at 6 miles, with one, two or three beeps to match. When lightning is first detected, all 8 LEDs flash for 5 minutes, then it blinks alternate LEDs to save battery. It runs on 4 AA batteries, and a wired version with a wall power supply is also available.

Mount the sign on a nonmetallic flat surface at least 3 feet from anything that gives off electrical noise. The PVC resists UV fading and the unit is waterproof. Plan the mounting position around beam direction, switch access and cable routing before drilling or fastening the light in place. Browse more weather monitoring.
