Description
The Spyderco Manix 2 S30V G-10 (C101GP2) is the standard Manix 2, with a 3.38-inch CPM S30V blade and a black G-10 handle. It has long been one of Spyderco's most popular USA-made folders and is built in Golden, Colorado. Open, the knife measures about 8 inches, with a broad leaf-shaped blade and a deep finger choil.
Its Ball Bearing Lock uses a spring-loaded bearing held in a small cage, which rolls into place between a stop pin and the blade tang when the knife opens. Pulling the bearing back with a thumb releases the blade, and since the bearing sits in the middle of the handle, it works the same for either hand. The lockup is very strong, and the action is noticeably smooth, which is a big reason the Manix 2 has such a loyal following.
CPM S30V gives a balanced mix of edge holding, toughness, and resistance to rust. The textured G-10 grips well, and skeletonized steel liners keep the handle stiff while trimming weight. Some listings call the opener a thumb pull, but it is Spyderco's Round Hole, which opens the blade with one thumb. Some owners add a drop of oil to the bearing cage once in a while to keep the lock smooth. Other Manix 2 versions and USA-made folders are in our folding knives.
