CPM S30V is a respected American-made powder steel, prized for a balance of edge retention, toughness, and corrosion resistance that outperforms nearly all other standard stainless alloys available today. Spyderco's Compression Lock, a proprietary mechanism distinct from a standard liner lock, locks the blade with strength while keeping the release lever positioned safely and deliberately away from the cutting edge during closing. Black G10 resists cracking and fading far better than basic plastic, and the black blade finish resists corrosion while hiding fingerprints noticeably better than a bare, polished steel surface.
