Spyderco Manix 2 Cru-Wear Micarta Folding Knife

The Spyderco Manix 2 Cru-Wear Micarta (C101MPCW2) combines a 3.38-inch CPM Cru-Wear blade with brown canvas Micarta handle scales. Spyderco builds this Manix 2 at its factory in Golden, Colorado, and it opens to about 8 inches. The warm Micarta and satin blade give it a more traditional look than the G-10 versions. The leaf-shaped blade has a long edge with a deep finger choil behind it for close control.

CPM Cru-Wear is a powder tool steel known for high toughness and very good wear resistance. It is semi-stainless, so wipe it dry after use and add a light coat of oil if it will sit in a damp place. Over time it can develop a patina, which many owners like. Cru-Wear is popular with hunters and outdoor users who want an edge that resists chipping and rolling.

Canvas Micarta is layers of canvas set in resin, giving a grip that improves when wet and a surface that wears in with use. The Ball Bearing Lock is ambidextrous and opens with a pull on the bearing. Despite what some listings show, it opens with the Round Hole like other Manix 2 models. Its clip mounts in four positions, so left-handed and right-handed users can set it up the same way. Skeletonized steel liners inside the handle add strength without much extra weight. Micarta can be cleaned with mild soap and water and will darken slightly with handling.
