Springfield 2-7/8-Inch Mainstay with Tension Knob

The Springfield 2-7/8-Inch Mainstay with Tension Knob is a heavy-duty Mainstay pedestal fitted with a tension knob for adjusting the seat mount. It uses the same 2-7/8-inch keyed Mainstay post as the other heavy-duty pedestals. The post is built for the bigger loads of larger, faster boats where a light-duty pedestal would flex.

Mainstay pedestals are a common choice for offshore center consoles, where seats take repeated impacts from waves. A properly installed Mainstay keeps the seat tight and predictable at speed. Check the knob setting and all locks before getting underway. The tension knob lets you dial in how firmly the seat mount holds, so you can loosen it for easy turning while fishing or tighten it for a solid feel when running.

Install the base over solid structure or with a backing plate, use stainless fasteners, and check them after the first few trips as everything settles in. Rinse salt off after each trip so the locks and adjusting parts keep working freely, and replace any worn hardware before it develops play.
