The Smith & Wesson Special Ops has a 3.5-inch gray TiNi coated stainless blade with a partially serrated edge, a black carbon fiber handle, assisted opening, an extended tang, a thumb stud and a pocket clip, closing to 4.25 inches.

Carbon fiber is woven cloth set in resin and the lightest handle material in common use, stiffer than G10 at a fraction of the weight, which is unusual to find at this price. TiNi is titanium nitride, a hard ceramic coating deposited onto the steel that adds surface hardness and cuts glare rather than simply coloring the blade.

The edge is split, plain toward the tip and serrated nearer the handle, putting the controlled section where detail cutting happens and the teeth where the hand pushes hardest.
