Description

The Shakespeare 396-1-AIS 4-Foot Broadband VHF Antenna is built for the wider bandwidth that AIS transceivers need. It has 3 dB of gain and 6 MHz of bandwidth within a 2.0:1 SWR, with an SWR of 1.5:1 at 156.8 MHz. That covers both the VHF voice channels and the AIS frequencies.

The antenna is commercial-grade with brass and copper elements and an SO-239 connector at the base. It is 4 ft tall in one section with vertical polarization and an omni-directional pattern. It handles up to 100 watts and is 50 ohm.

A mast mounting sleeve and U-bolts are included, and it can be strapped to a larger mast with steel banding, not supplied. Coax cable is sold separately. It does not have a DC ground, so it reads open circuit on an ohmmeter test. Other antennas and mounts are in our marine antennas section.

  • Broadband for AIS and VHF.
  • 3 dB gain.
  • Commercial-grade build.
  • U-bolts included for mast mounting.
