Description

The Schrade Fire Starter is a compact ferrocerium fire-starting set with a separate steel striker.

The ferro rod measures 3.75 in overall and 3/16 in in diameter, leaving enough exposed material for repeated scraping while still fitting easily into a survival pouch or camp kit.

A steel striker is included, and a lanyard holds the two pieces together. Scraping the striker firmly down the ferro rod throws sparks onto prepared tinder without needing matches or a disposable lighter.

The ferrocerium rod produces sparks without fuel or battery power. Because a separate steel striker is included, there is no need to scrape the rod with the edge or spine of a knife.
