1065 carbon steel takes a keener edge than stainless and resharpens with less effort, at the cost of a patina that develops with use, which most owners of a carbon traditional treat as part of the knife. Yellow Delrin is a working choice rather than decoration, since a dark handle set down in grass or bedding is very hard to find again while a bright one gets recovered.
