Description

The Roper Chaparral Stockman has satin 1065 carbon steel clip, sheepsfoot and spey blades in a red jigged bone handle with nickel silver bolsters and an inlay shield, closing to 3.5 inches.

Red is the loudest of the Chaparral bone colors, and on dyed natural material the color sits unevenly in the jigging so the grooves read darker than the raised surface between them. That unevenness is what separates dyed bone from a solid synthetic, and it is more visible on red than on the brown or black versions.

Three blades divide the work: the clip for general cutting, the sheepsfoot for controlled push cuts against a surface, and the spey for scraping without a point to puncture. 1065 carbon steel takes a keener edge than stainless and comes back faster on a stone, developing a patina with use.
