Perko Black Plastic Masthead Light, White Lens

The Perko Masthead Light is black polymer with a white lens, pre-wired with a double contact bayonet socket and 3 feet of 16/3-SO cable, with a watertight access cap.

A masthead light shows white through 225 degrees forward, which combined with a stern light gives the full circle. On a power vessel it is required whenever the engine is running, including under sail. The name is misleading on a sailboat, since it mounts on the mast forward rather than at the top.

A watertight access cap is the practical feature. Changing a bulb aloft is difficult enough without dismantling the fitting, and a cap means the job is a twist rather than a strip-down.
