Performance Metals Yamaha Honda Aluminum Button Anode

The Performance Metals Button Anode fits older Yamaha outboards, including the 40 hp from 1985 to 1987, the 50 hp from 1984 to 1987 and 70 to 90 hp from 1984 to 1987. It also fits Honda 40 to 90 hp outboards. It replaces Yamaha 688-45251-01 and Honda 12155-ZV4-A00.

Performance Metals makes its Navalloy aluminum anodes to military specification MIL-DTL-24779, and they work in salt, brackish and fresh water. An anode is a sacrificial metal that corrodes in place of your drive, propeller and other underwater metal. Aluminum anodes protect in salt, brackish and fresh water, and they deliver more protection per pound than zinc.

Stick with one anode metal on a given drive or hull instead of mixing zinc and aluminum. Replace anodes when they're about half consumed, and never paint them, because paint stops them from working.
