Performance Metals HC2A Aluminum Hull Anode

The Performance Metals HC2A is an aluminum hull anode that replaces the ZHC-2. It bolts to the hull to protect bonded underwater metal such as shafts, struts and rudders. It's one of a series of hull anodes in different sizes.

Performance Metals makes its Navalloy aluminum anodes to military specification MIL-DTL-24779, and they work in salt, brackish and fresh water. Each one has Performance Metals' patented red spot wear indicator, which shows at a glance when it's time for a replacement. Aluminum anodes protect in salt, brackish and fresh water, and they deliver more protection per pound than zinc.

Replace anodes when they're about half consumed, and never paint them, because paint stops them from working. Clean the mounting surface to bare metal before installing so the anode makes good electrical contact.
