The Performance Metals Hull Anode is an aluminum transom anode used on many yachts. It replaces the Z-406, B-12 and B-14. Transom-mounted anodes protect running gear and other bonded underwater metal.
Performance Metals makes its Navalloy aluminum anodes to military specification MIL-DTL-24779, and they work in salt, brackish and fresh water. Each one has Performance Metals' patented red spot wear indicator, which shows at a glance when it's time for a replacement. Aluminum anodes protect in salt, brackish and fresh water, and they deliver more protection per pound than zinc.
Replace anodes when they're about half consumed, and never paint them, because paint stops them from working. Clean the mounting surface to bare metal before installing so the anode makes good electrical contact. Other kits and individual anodes are in our marine anodes section.
