Newmar PT-24-8W 24V Smart Marine Battery Charger

The Newmar PT-24-8W Phase Three is a 24V charger with three isolated outputs, a built-in ammeter and a stainless enclosure.

This is the 24V unit in the Phase Three range, and system voltage is the first thing to confirm since the rest of the line runs 12V. Eight amps at 24 volts is modest, sized for maintaining banks aboard a workboat or commercial vessel rather than recovering a large depleted system.

The built-in ammeter showing total output current is unusual on a charger this size, and it tells you something a status LED cannot. Current falling toward zero means the banks are full. Current stuck high after hours means something is drawing it, or a battery is not accepting charge.

It can also operate as a regulated DC power supply and support loads with no battery connected, which many chargers cannot. A battery-type selector sets voltage for flooded lead-acid, AGM or gel, with an optional temperature sensor, current limiting, thermal protection, forced-air cooling and marinized circuitry in a stainless enclosure.
