The Morakniv Basic 546 has a 3.625-inch satin stainless clip point blade at 8.25 inches overall, a blue synthetic handle and a gray molded plastic belt sheath with a drain hole. Made in Sweden.

The drain hole is a small thing that matters. A wet blade left in a closed sheath sits in standing water, and a hole in the bottom lets it out instead of holding it against the steel. Stainless makes that less critical than it would be on a carbon blade, but it still keeps the sheath from staying damp against a handle.

The Basic is Morakniv's plainest pattern, sold to Swedish tradespeople on the argument that a knife needs a good blade, a comfortable handle and nothing else.
