The Morakniv Basic 511 in black and tan is the carbon steel version of one of the most popular beginner and bushcraft knives on the market. Made in Sweden, the Basic 511 has been a go-to recommendation for outdoor beginners, scouts, and budget-minded bushcrafters for years, and for good reason. At under $15 it is hard to find a better made knife.
The 3.5-inch carbon steel blade is the main reason people choose this version over the stainless variants. Carbon steel takes a sharper edge than most stainless steels at this price point and is easy to touch up in the field with almost any sharpener.
